Producer Grants

New York farmers are innovators, problem-solvers, and stewards of the land. The New York Farm Viability Institute (NYFVI) supports that work by investing directly in farmers through competitive grant programs designed to strengthen farm businesses and advance New York agriculture.

Our producer-focused grants provide funding to help farmers start, grow, and improve their operations. These programs support farm viability by helping producers adopt new technologies, develop markets, build infrastructure, and explore new ideas that strengthen the agricultural economy across New York State.

NYFVI currently administers several grant programs designed specifically for agricultural producers:

NYS Beginning Farmer Competitive Grant Program

The NYS Beginning Farmer Grant supports farmers who are in the early stages of building their farm businesses. Funding helps new producers invest in equipment, infrastructure, and other improvements that increase productivity, profitability, and long-term farm viability.

NYS Grown & Certified Infrastructure and Technology Grant

This program helps farms participating in the NYS Grown & Certified program strengthen their operations through strategic investments in infrastructure and technology. Grants support projects that improve food safety, environmental stewardship, product quality, and operational efficiency.

NYS Grown & Certified Research and Development Grant

The NYS Grown & Certified Research and Development Grant supports producer-led innovation. Funding helps farmers test new ideas, explore emerging markets, and develop products or practices that enhance farm sustainability and competitiveness.
